When disaster strikes, we’re here to help. Our Disaster Relief Loan Programs provide financial support to individuals, families, and businesses affected by declared disasters, including wildfires in Los Angeles County. With low-interest loans and flexible terms, we’re committed to helping our community recover and rebuild.
We offer support in locating, securing, and funding temporary housing for up to one year, ideally near the affected individual’s previous residence. Our goal is to assist at least 50 families with up to $40,000 each. Given that many families in the Black and Hispanic communities of Altadena and Pasadena have lived in their homes for decades, the rising cost of housing presents a significant challenge. We aim to bridge the financial gap and prevent displacement. Experience from disasters like Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey shows that those who leave their communities during rebuilding are statistically less likely to return, making this support critical.
We provide technical support to guide individuals through the claims process with insurance companies, assist with managing mortgage deferments with lenders, and connect residents to community partners who can address immediate needs such as temporary housing, food, basic necessities, transportation, and mental health or wellness services. Additionally, we offer small grants to help cover insurance deductibles.
